Spainbaum · listening practice from primary sources
A system for learning a foreign language from one speaker who talks a lot,
every day, on the record. It sets out to solve three things:
Understanding speech by ear — play a line, and tap it to hide the text when you want to test yourself. Blind in the bottom bar flips that round: every line starts hidden.
Building vocabulary — words are ranked by how often this speaker actually uses them, so what you learn keeps coming back.
Following what is happening — the material is this week's political and economic agenda, not textbook dialogue.
Each line cycles through three states as you tap it: Spanish with your translation,
hidden, Spanish alone. Mark whether you got it first try — that mark is the only
score here, not how many videos you opened.
Mexican Spanish: ustedes, not
vosotros. Register is governmental and
journalistic — it will not teach you to order coffee.
