How this site uses other people’s videos, and how to get yours removed.
We host no video. Not a file, not a copy, not a mirror.
Every clip on Spainbaum plays inside YouTube’s own embedded player, streamed from YouTube, from the channel that published it. The view is counted for that channel. Any advertising on it is that channel’s advertising. If the owner deletes the video or turns embedding off, it stops playing here the same minute — we have no copy to fall back on.
A study layer over the video. We take the caption track YouTube publishes for it, split the speech into lines, align each word to the moment it is spoken, and write a line-by-line translation so that a learner can follow speech by ear. We also pick out a handful of words worth remembering.
The translation and the timing are ours. Everything else — the video, its audio, its images, the words that are spoken and the captions themselves — belongs to whoever made it. Channel names, show titles, trademarks and logos belong to their owners; their appearance here is identification, not endorsement, and does not suggest any affiliation or sponsorship.
We use short excerpts, typically between forty-five seconds and two and a half minutes, for teaching and commentary. Spainbaum is free to use. We do not sell the videos, we do not sell access to them, and we do not put our own advertising on them.
When Spainbaum publishes a clip on a channel of its own, it re-uses only videos whose author released them under a Creative Commons licence, and it credits the author and the licence as that licence requires. Anything not released that way stays on this site, inside the original YouTube player, and is never re-uploaded.
Write to hola@spainbaum.com. Include the link to the page here, or to your video on YouTube. That is enough — you do not need to prove anything or explain why.
We remove the page, and the transcript and translation that go with it, within three business days, usually the same day. We do not argue, we do not ask you to reconsider, and we do not put it back.
The same address works for anything else about rights: a correction to a credit, a licence question, or a translation you think misrepresents what was said.
Translations are written by hand and checked, but they are our reading of someone else’s words and can be mistaken. Tell us at the address above and we will fix it or take the page down. Nothing here should be read as a claim about what the speaker meant beyond the words they said.
